The following is a series of assets developed to work in an Unreal Engine virtual production environment. Requirements were that all of the assets needed to be able to playback in real time on a 20 meter LED wall as well as have the ability to be paused and reset back to "zero" for production. Even though, ultimately, the production was scrapped, our team was able to develop several working systems that could easily be transferred to future productions.
Rigged and animated a 3D model (sourced) of a Eurocopter H125 that production had sourced for use. Additionally, developed an interactive grass system that reacts to the helicopter's downnforce as well as blowing dust and debris.
Simulated an explosion and RBD deformation of the truck in Houdini. Then, using the Houdini-to-Unreal Engine VAT system, we were able to have a high-resolution explosion and simulation while having a very minimal impact on overall frame rates.
Developed a self-driving traffic system for use as background movement. The cars are be customizable as well as having the ability to randomize colors and graphics.
